My guess is that self-driving cars will solve the problems with congestion by coordinating traffic flow. How much would the capacity of our roads be increased if we all knew what every other driver was doing and we didn't have to rely on human reflexes? My guess is two times. The cars will also be electric. In twenty years, automotive technology will have changed as much as our personal communications have.
