I drove a 2L turbo diesel in a Vauxhall Insignia. It has the flattest,
smoothest, torque curve of any engine I've ever driven. It felt more
like an electric motor than a piston engine. It had some long legs and
passing at 70 MPH was a piece of cake. This was a car that weighted
around 3500 lb and got over 40 MPG. I can barely believe that such a
thing is possible. The power delivery worked so smoothly that you'd be
an idiot to mess it up with a standard shifter. Hopefully, that's not
offered in this car. Simply brilliant!
