I've only ever had poppers in restaurants, as an appetizer. The only
filling was cream cheese, although I'm sure someone in the kitchen added
something more to it. Herbs, maybe garlic. Before the batter and
deep-fry treatment. They weren't bland. I wouldn't buy frozen ones
from a grocery store.
