Earlier this month an 809-pound tiger shark was caught in the Gulf of
Mexico, and then it was cooked and fed to some of the homeless and
poor in Texas.
According to KSAT, 90 homeless and poor people were fed the shark.
Fisherman Ryan Spring, of San Antonio, was the one who caught the
shark. He said it took him more than seven hours to reel it in,
according to Click2Houston. Spring didn't toss the catch. Instead
he decided to donate the shark to Timon's Ministries in Corpus
Christi. Almost 80 pounds of the shark's meat ended up there.
According to Reuters, on Friday the charity's executive director,
Kae Berry, said that most of the people liked it. Berry continued
to say that they thought the texture was interesting, but for the
most part they did like the meat. The shark was breaded and it was
served with homemade tartar sauce.
Berry said that there is still plenty of meat leftover and it is
going to be used for chowder and stews...
