What he says is total BS. I know what pureed butternut squash tastes
like and I don't taste anything butternut in canned pumpkin puree.
Here's the process about how a variety of winter squashes are turned
into "pumpkin puree" (which tastes suspiciously like the puree I make
from plain old pumpkin):
