After me sounding like a parrot at least a half dozen times that it is n-o-t a money saver for me he has finally shut up. One Costco is 63 blocks (give or take 5 or 6 blocks and how many miles that is I have no idea)away from me and that's the one I visited with them about 2 years ago to buy a new TV on their card. The other one is 18 miles away. The gas alone would negate any savings I could possibly hope to gain and I don't need the sizes and quantities his family consumes.

All depends on how you want to buy and how you use things. We make the
trip to BJ's once a month. I use about 1 1/3 gallons of gas, but we do
other things in the area so it is not a big deal.
If I buy a whole boneless pork loin, it is about 9 pounds and costs 2.19
a pound. That same meat, cut to boneless chops or roasts is at least
$4.29 to $5.49 a pound. One item and I saved about $20. Of course, you
need some freezer space for it. A couple of OTC generic medications
save another 10 or 20 bucks. Butter is about $3 a pound savings but it
comes in a four pack. Depending on your family, that could last a month
or a year, but it freezes well.
Condiments are too big for what we use so we don't buy them there.
Paper goods are about the same as Wal Mart. We have the space so it is
convenient to buy a pack of 12 or 15 rolls, but if you line in a small
apartment or condo, probably not a good idea.
We save, but it does not fit everyone.
