Kenwoods have two sets of 90° bevel gears. After noticing my
bottom-line Kenwood (Rival) model was leaking lubricant from
somewhere, I took off the top of the mixer. The gear case, which
holds the bevel gears and the gear oil, was weepiing oil at the
gasket. I tightened down the gear case screws and have had no lube
leaks, since. The noise you hear may be those bevel gears after all
the lube has leaked out of the gear case over the yrs. Have you ever
noticed oil seepage anywhere on the mixer?
