All she said initially was she was raised to fear green beans. That's
what prompted me to react "Uh, what?" Then the embellished, yes,
fleshed out with more details about bad canning. Sort of important to
the story.

She said it was all over the news. Sorry, not my news. Then again, I
wasn't watching the news in 1960. I doubt she was, either.
