Default Sugar Blues in Deutschland

Squirts asked if invert syrup (as likely in his German sour cherries)
was as bad as HFCS. (Acid is applied to sucrose to split it into glucose
and fructose, thus "inverting" it.)

Trying to find out, I stumbled across a number of German books pointing out
the harm of sucrose. In English their titles would be "Pure. White. Deadly."
"Sugar, the Household Killer" "Guaranteed Hazardous to your Health"
