Certainly not 10 minutes, that would toughen the corn. 5 or 6 minutes should
do.
As for the microwave suggestion, (wrapping it in plastic wrap), I wouldn't do
that. The plastic could melt if in for too long. Better to wrap it in wet
paper towels. However !! The best way to cook corn on the cob is NOT to shuck
the hulls and silk off first. Thoroughly wet the corn, letting some of the
water get under the hulls/leaves. Put in microwave, two at a time, for 2
minutes. Remove and using towel to protect your hands, just slide off the
leaves and silk. The silk will just come right off in one piece with the
leaves. No more picking at that pesky corn silk.
