Since you pay for Prime, I doubt anyone thinks Amazon is giving it away.
It can be a good deal though, if you order enough from them.

Not only do you get "free" shipping, you have access to a lot of movies,
TV, games that your family may or may not use.

We are able to order some medical supplies from them at about the same
price as the local shop. The difference? The local shop has to order
them and it takes a week to get it. Once they have the items, it is a 15
mile round trip to get it home. At 55 cents a mile, or $8.25 The
option is one click, delivered here in two days and 1/10 of the Prime is
covered.

I also ordered two HDMI cables for $5 each. Cheapest I see locally is
$15. Ebay has them cheap too, but I was already at Amazon.

Not a bargain for everyone but it can be.
