The beef taboo in India is no different than the pork and
non-scaly-seafood taboos that Muslims and Jews share, or the horse, dog
and cat meat taboos that many European (and Anglo) cultures observe.
The poverty in rural India certainly isn't caused by the lack of
quality beef anyway.
