I guess you don't make cakes? She made a round, two layer one and it puffed
up quite a bit. So I told her to trim the bottom layer to make it flat.
You simply run a bread knife across the domed part and then you put the
trimmed cake down on the cake plate so it doesn't rock around. That's cake
making 101 right there.
I have made plenty of other cakes where I had to cut the cake into pieces to
form a certain shape and sometimes there are little bits leftover. Not the
case here but it really floors me that you would even ask such a thing.
