Canned food taste?

Brits and Aussies say "tinned" where we could say "canned".
Shoot, half the time I call aluminum foil, "tinfoil", and I
know darned well it isn't made of tin. The "tinfoil hat"
comes to mind.
People who make and install forced-air heating ducts are sometimes
called "tin knockers", even though the material is galvanized steel.
