Are they those triangular traps that you let sit for awhile them pull
up? Buy yourself a real (commercial) crap pot and fill the bait part
with tuna. I used to throw one out overnight and get about 4 dozen
just in less than 12 hours.

Rudee Inlet was my primo crabbing spot years ago. I could put out 4
lines baited with chicken pieces and never relax. Within an hour, I
could fill a 5 gallon bucket with crabs (about 4 dozen). Back when I
was married, I did that often. We ate all the crabs we wanted to all
season. At the end of the season, we ended up with 28lbs of crabmeat
in the freezer, all frozen in 1/2lb bags. That winter we tried all
kinds of crab recipes.

Sadly all that area has private property now. No where to park and all
the good crabbing areas have private boat docks.

I remember when Croatan was totally vacant. Now all available property
is houses and manicured yards. They ruined it all.
