That's because there were no PA systems of any size back then like we
have now. It was the Beatle's first concerts in the U.S that created
the demand for amplification beyond the paltry 20 or 50 watts that was
the norm at the time.

My first 'real' concert was a big deal for me. I was about 10 y/o at
the time, and completely infatuated with Suzi Quatro.
Luckily for me, my Dad's best friend worked in management at EMI at
the time. He not only arranged for me to go to the concert, but to
meet her both after the concert and at a later gold record
presentation for her 'Quatro' album. I got lots of kisses and hugs
from her both times, and Suzi being my 'dream girl', I was pretty
pleased with all that
