Most of the music I play is digital, in the form of lossless files
ripped from CDs and stored on this PC. From there it goes to a DAC,
then to whichever preamp/amp/ etc. I have set up at the time (I have a
few, mostly restored vintage gear. I guess it's a hobby of mine).
That said, I still like good quality vinyl as I really do prefer the
analogue sound, I often find digitised music fatiguing to listen to
and you lose subtle detail.
It all depends on the mastering etc. of course. Some digital is very
good and not fatiguing to listen to at all. Most people aren't
sensitive to the differences, but some are.
I also like the whole vinyl process, handling the record, putting it
on and you get the album cover art and other stuff which you don't
really get on CDs. I often buy both CD and vinyl if I really like a
particular release.
