This "person" is old enough to shop for herself. She has a car. If
she wants little cans of pears let her drive from store to store to find
the specific size of canned pears she wants.

There's no way she would actually open a larger can of pears and store
them in the refrigerator. There is always a reason she can't or won't
do something.

Likely the "person" wouldn't eat them if they came from a larger can and
were put into a different container. That would make too much sense.
