The first dishwasher I recall my mother having was a top loading one.
That would have been in the 1960's. It was "portable", aka on wheels.
It had to be hooked up to the kitchen faucet. Truly, it seemed like
more trouble than it was worth.

I'll pass on the top loading dishwasher. I will, however, take the
fancy dinner dress her guest is wearing.
