Default Son-in-law Eggs

Has anyone here made "Son-in-law" eggs? These are hard-boiled eggs that
are deep-fried to brown, and then drizzled with a Thai sweet-sour-salty
sauce. I'd like to try these without the deep-frying, perhaps by just
using a small amount of oil in a cast-iron skillet and turning the eggs
to get them brown on all sides.

Any comments are appreciated.
