Gary has my 1+ for his ferret.

I am odd in that we adopt older medical issues dogs. I tend to adopt
dogs who are 16+ in years though I do not have one now of that age.
Most folks will not even look at a dog over age 4 and age 8 is rare.

Currently we have 2 dogs (i keep to 2). Cash is 8-10 but came to us
age 1-2 with heart, kidney, and liver damage plus spine and joint
damage. All but the spine was due to bad heartworm infection. Iowna
came to us age 11 after going blind from glaucoma age 9 and she has
advanced arthritis. Iowna is 13.5 years now.

They happily co-exist with Daisy-chan, the once true feral cat, who is
about 16 now.
