I love watching the haggling that goes on at our two local farmers
markets. I think the Asian women get the highest marks, followed by the
Middle-Eastern men. The Asian ladies are not above switching choice
pieces of produce with lesser ones in the already-portioned baskets to
buy. Usually they get scolded for it when they're caught.

The guys seem to be better at, "If I buy two, will you give me X dollars
off?" Actually, it's more like, "You'll give me X dollars off if I buy
two, yes?" Us Gringas don't seem to do much of it, although I will
examine all the tomatoes in the basket and ask for a replacement for a
bruised one.
