I also make thick and hearty soups. For me though, just a one dish
meal is boring. I like a variety and one bowl of soup, chowder, etc is
an appetizer or a side dish to me.
Since I like more food variety in a meal, I keep my soup bowls
somewhat small...no more than 16oz. Not like Sheldon that claims to
serve 28 ounces per bowl..
A pint of thick soup and a slice or two of buttered bread would be a
diet meal to me.
