I've never seen a trial anything that did not involve sending a bill or
charging a CC later. If it is a free trial, there is the fine print.

I hope she canceled in the allotted period or still can.

Please, nothing is free. Anyone giving you something free is looking
for something in return. Same with the free samples at the supermarket.
They want you to like the item and feel obligated to buy it. Extended
trials have a "if you don't cancel we will charge you" clause in there.

A little skepticism and cynicism can save a lot of trouble and money.
Hope she learned a life lesson from it.
