I hate it - it is a freaking mess and it spreads mold spores all over
everything (smut - THE worst!). One does not have to shuck the corn
completely to see if it's a good ear - you merely have to pull back
the top of the husk.
Another trend I absolutely hate are the people who think it is their
right to break the sweet potatoes and yams to see how fresh they are.
The store ends up with a million ends and broken whole pieces, which
IMO aren't fit to buy. It's just plain rude. I had never seen anyone
do this until we moved to San Jose, CA. I was horrified.
