I've tried this, but with significantly less of flour. I've tried
it with about two heaping tablespoons of flour, enough water to make a
slurry, plus some starter.

I get hooch pretty quickly on top of it, plus it smells sour. I just
don't get any bubbles.

Maybe I'll try it again with more flour this time...
