More than likely the following "ant solution" is a known "recipe" for
many folks - but I'd like to share the following recipe with RFCers
if/when ants tend to 'invade' one's kitchen/home and wherever.
I know first-hand this "recipe" works because I very recently had to use
it. What's weird is the 'ants' that invaded from the outside wall of my
kitchen to the sink/faucet were nearly microscopic! I've never seen
such teeny ants before (very light brown), and never any ants at this
particular time of year (later June).
Anywhoo, here's the original recipe that truly worked for my situation:
1 cup sugar
3 TBS boric acid (aka, BORAX; laundry aisle of stores)
3 cups warm water
(allow sugar & boric acid to dissolve in the warm water)
something moistened to hold solution
(cotton balls, swabs, portions of paper towels, whatever)
JFYI, I cut the recipe in thirds, so I used 1/3-cup water, 1 TBS boric
acid, and 1 cup water for the 'solution'.
I used oval 'cotton pads' (the sort to remove nail polish & makeup) cut
in quarters to soak up the solution and placed those along the trail
where the ants decided to attack <g>. It took a good 24- to nearly
48-hours for all ants to disappear, and disappear they did

And now,
the ants have evacuated.
Isn't amazing how ants can find such minuscule bits of food to plan
their attack(s)! In this case, it was a teeny bit of ginger/soy sauce
I'd inadvertently left on the counter in a small dish -- who knew and
now I know!
