I think shoe size standards have gone out the window too. I have worn
size 11 shoes since I was about 13. I have had trouble with running
shoes hurting my toes and went to size 12 .. problem solved. A few
weeks ago I went shopping for new shows and ended up buying size 13.

I had been wearing neoprene boat boots for kayaking and I bought size
11. They were a tight fit. After a couple years of tolerating them
putting my feet to sleep I splurged on a new pair. I could not get into
size 12 and ended up with 13.
