My sister in law and brother in law had a Dalmatian whose name was
Freckles. Their kids were not toddlers, but they were in early
elementary school when they got her and she never harmed a living
thing on purpose. My SIL liked to say her parakeet committed suicide.
Freckles yawned and the bird flew into her mouth. The dog was
surprised and snapped her mouth shut, killing the bird.

Dalmatians aren't the smartest breed in the world either. She'd wag
her tail until it bled (because the tip was hitting the wall) and keep
on wagging it.
