Agreed. Back, oh, 10 years ago, I went to the Rainforest Cafe in
Minnesota (the Mall of America one, if there are others now), back
when it was a new thing, and well before Landry's bought them. The
food was quite good, and the ambiance was enjoyable as long as it
wasn't too loud.
More recently, I got dragged to another one (Tysons Corners, VA, I
think), and it was bland, and the restaurant was obnoxious.
Like you, I think I have to add it to the list of annoying theme
restaurants. Heck, they seemed to be good at one time, but like so
many other concept restaurants (Buca di Beppo is coming to mind, for
example), once they go large-scale quality suffers.
