It's that, or perhaps bove was/is the best (cough-cough!) he could find
to play nanny and support all his whims, various appetites, and apparent
"incapabilities" (NOT disabilities!). Bove must be the ultimate
pushover since she's enabled him (dang, there's that cough-cough,
again!) to get away with such (imagined?) helplessness. Heh, he has her
pegged, literally and figuratively, doesn't he!?!
