Using a hands on cell phone or texting has been illegal here for a
couple years. There does not seem to be a heck of a lot of enforcement,
but due to a very obvious lack of compliance the recently doubled the
fine to $490 plus 3 demerit points. For repeat offenders they can issue
a summons and get a fine up to $1000.
