I was checking out some Teslas yesterday. What a well conceived, beautifully finished car it is. It actually feels and looks like a $70,000 car. This was built at the Tesla plant, which used to be the NUMMI plant, which used to be the GM Fremont Assembly Plant.
When I was working on my Mazda RX-2, the mechanic that was helping me replace the seals on the engine, drove by the gates of the Fremont Assembly Plant. As I recall, production was winding down at the plant - sad. It was surprising to see a car assembly plant in CA in 1978. These days, cars are manufactured all over the US.
