He wasn't re-elected, so he must not have been popular. There was
a recession in 1992 (the year he ran for re-election), so voters
blamed him. He was also the "read my lips, no new taxes" guy, but
he had a Democratic-majority Congress, which resulted in higher
taxes and increased government spending.
