In addition to the slightly different age grouping, middle schools are
organized more like elementary schools, which junior high schools are
organized more like high school. Studies have found that children in that
age group do better overall in the middle school concept than under the
junior high concept. Also in terms of growth and maturity, 6-8 graders
are more aligned than 7-9 graders.
