Our village baker made excellent rich fruit cakes and always had some
maturing. When one was bought, he made another to keep the stack going.
However, his wife recommended a particular national brand of Dundee Cake
because it had angelica in it - and it was very good.

I always had a couple of fruit cakes on hand. I used to bake them
and put them by for the next year (or the year after)
