Default To freakin' die for!

I sed I'd get back with a review of my panettone purchase. Well, here
it is:

I ordered the Genovese Panettone (pandolce?). Unlike a classic
panettone, it is squat and short. I looks like this:

http://www.cucinagenovese.it/dolci/3...-pandolce.html

It is a far heavier version than the classic fluffy/tall panettone one
is likely to find in an Italian deli or Trader Joe's. It's more like
an American fruit cake. Mine weighed 1.1 lbs and may possibly be the
best tasting fruit cake I've ever eaten. I ate half of it on the
first day!

While not certified as organic, all natural ingredients are used. The
ingredient list is thus:

fine wheat flour
pure creamery butter
golden raisins
acacia honey
pine nuts
Italian candied lemon/citron

This is a pricey "artisan" panettone. Cost me $32USD for the cake and
$20USD fer shipping. I figured the high shipping cost was fer
overnight postage. Wrong! I didn't get the cake until 9 days after
phoning in the purchase. That's $52USD fer a 1 lb fruitcake. Worth
it? No. I'd pay the $32 fer the cake (it's that good!), but the
shipping is a rip-off. Despite a great Xmas gift to myself, I'll
never do this again. (I'll prolly translate that link and make my
own)
