I think it's great what you do. In the future, I also want to get older
shelter cats to give them a few last good years.

I hope so. Just be warned they often come with 'problems', though can be
worked around with plenty of patience.

It is to be expected when you hear of the lives some have been forced to
lead before being rescued.

Even after those few years ... although my Blue lived until she was 17 yo
you will find you are very attached and it is a wrench with the time comes.

Bonnie was sick when we took her on and only managed to keep her for 11
months, but it is still an awful wrench when they die.

Poppy is only approx 7 yo so hopefully we will have her for a while yet
She has plenty of problems but has learned to love us

I noticed you said ... in the future! I waited until I retired until I took
my first one. They need a lot of company and love. I didn't want to get
one and leave it home alone all day.
