I found a nice piece of chuck in the used meat bin at the market this week. A couple of days ago I made braised beef with it. Today it's starting to snow again and I thought about my favorite Winter soup, beef and barley.
So I rummaged around in the freezer and vegetable bins and came up with bits and pieces . I cooked off the barley earlier in the day, let it cool and then rinsed it to get rid of most of the starch.
It made a nice big pot of soup and it's yummy and comforting on a cold Winter's day.
Nice New Year's Eve supper.
