DDT has saved countless lives since the world has begun using it to control malaria. We're not allowed to use the stuff but for the rest of the world, it's a godsend. The part about DDT and eagle eggs are well known and well publicized. The problem is that there's no proof that there is any truth to what everybody knows. Mostly, it's junk science.
