My granny used to feed her children and grandchildren nettles as a
"greens" every spring, for a tonic; they are high in iron. She picked
just the top new leaves, with bare hands. If you pick new leaves firmly
they don't sting. According to her.
I harvest older nettles, a great activator for compost heaps/
