I've never understood that. I can see not wasting food,
but eating 1/4 of a huge steak and taking the rest home
is not a problem for me. The sight of more food than I
can eat is simply unexceptional. It happens all the time.
I'll probably go to hell for all of the rice I haven't
eaten in Asian restaurants.
