Unless John has some friends and/or family nearby to do an
"intervention," he's going to end up broke in no time. Sad. He needs a
financial caretaker, imo. One he can trust too.

No one in their right mind ever, EVER spends money on a house until
after closing. That chinese landlord is going to clean him out..
