Not just restaurants, also in people's homes.

If I get sweet spaghetti sauce in a restaurant, I either don't
go back or I order something else next time.

Sugar is also a problem in tomato-based soups and in many
salad dressings. Not just in crappy restaurants, either.
It's what Americans (by and large) are used to.
