Well, Mr. Bove, the garden guy and his helper certainly loved my chicken
salad, cheese biscuits and blackberry bars. Miss Bove ate elsewhere.
I have been cooking for 50 years now and there have been very few complaints
about my cooking. I once oversalted some fresh green beans and had a
terrible flop of a soba noodle salad. For some reason, the soba noodles were
so hard, you couldn't chew them. Then there was the time I tried to rush the
potatoes for the cottage pie. Tried to shred then boil. No good. Also when I
made a pierogie casserole and my from scratch mashed potatoes were too
runny. Tried to fix with some potato flakes and added too many. Or when I
put dried corn in the chicken stew and it was hard as a rock. Accidents do
happen. But if they do, I am usually able to catch them in time and either
not serve the dish or in the case of the stew, carefully pick the corn out
before serving.
