I pieced together that dessert for several last week.
Not the typical way to make but they were just fine.

Hostess twinkies on sale $2.50 for a box of 10.
Fresh strawberries on sale for $1.25/lb
Vanilla ice cream on sale too but I already had some.

First, I washed and cut up the strawberries.
Put in a container with some sugar stirred in.
As you know, this creates a bit of syrup later.

Anyway, I put 2 twinkies in a bowl, topped them
with some of the strawberries and syrup.
Topped with some vanilla ice cream rather than whipped.

It's good. The sponge cake of the Twinkies is the same
as those sponge cake cups you buy plus they have a
bit of faux cream inside.
The vanilla ice cream was a great topping.
It kept the entire dish cold as I ate.

I will do this combination again someday.

Out of that pound of strawberries, I got 4 nice SSC
desserts with 2 twinkies and vanilla ice cream
left over.
