Depends on what assumptions you are making. It is possible for two
people to live together, have children and raise them like a family, all
living together happily but not married. That is probably the minority
though.

Between family, friends, and neighbors, I've seen most every type of
situation, some good, some less so. Some people (both men and women)
should be sterilized at age 12 or so.
