I doubt a ferret's head can fit through a 1/2' opening but that's
something for Gary to research... I'm sure a Vet can advise.
These ferret cages have a one inch spacing between bars:

A ferret head is about the size of my penis head and neither can
escape those cages with 1" bar spacing.
According to those instructions 1" X 2" openings are recommended,
which is what I originally advised... you must have a much smaller
peepee than mine! Ferrets have like a 2" diameter sized head, which
is why those cages have smaller bar spacing to ensure they can't
escape... I just measured my peepee head at 1 3/4", it can't escape
that cage without doing serious damage, to my peepee, not the cage.
LOL
Gals would adore a ferret sized peepee. heheh
