We used Metacam (no constipation) for one dog's arthritis and
acupuncture for the other. If you can get vet acupuncture I recommend
it; it's like watching an instant miracle.

My last bitch had that. We used Incurin tablets which completely
solved the problem without side effects. For the first month she had one
a day (in her food); then the dose was reduced to one tab on alternate
days then a half tablet on alternate days, was enough to maintain it.
