If you live in a city that gets snow you should understand the concept.
People shovel out a spot and think they are now the owners of it even
though it is on a public street. People have been killed over parking
arguments.
In parking lots sometimes a car is waiting for another to pull out but
another car can sneak in ahead of them. That is not always a good ending.
When I was about 16 and my brother 17 we cleared an area in front of out
house to park. We were the last house on the street in the middle of
the block so there was another couple hundred yards to park but a woman
from a block away took our spot. It was freezing weather and the next
day her car was coated with ice. The only one on the block too.
Strange how that happened.
